Your commitment to a lifelong companion

Understanding the Texas German Shepherds Guesshaus contract is a crucial step in welcoming a new family member. This page clarifies our reservation process, health guarantees, and lifelong commitment to our dogs, ensuring a smooth and responsible experience. We invite you to read through these important details.

Understanding your reservation

The Reservation Process & Master List

When you reserve a puppy from Texas German Shepherds Guesshaus, you are making a profound commitment to a sentient, living being. German Shepherds typically live around 13 years, and they will rely on you for love, training, and care for their entire life. Because of the gravity of this commitment, all reservation fees are strictly non-refundable.

We strongly encourage you to carefully consider this lifelong responsibility before taking the step to place a reservation with Guesshaus.

How Our Master Reserve List Works

Rather than taking deposits for individual, specific litters, Guesshaus utilizes a centralized Master Reserve List. Here is how the process flows:

  • Your Place in Line: Your initial reservation number determines your pick order from all the litters produced by our kennel.

  • Making a Selection: When a litter is born, families are offered a puppy based on their current position on the list.

  • Passing on a Litter & Moving Up: If the timing isn't right, or a current litter doesn't have the coat or gender you are looking for, you can simply pass. You will not lose your place in line. In fact, your position will automatically improve based on the move-ups in front of you. Literally, as the people ahead of you select their puppies and clear out of the queue, you move up the list for the next Guesshaus litter.

    Accepted Payment Methods

To make securing your spot as convenient as possible, we accept reservation fees via the following platforms:

Addressing common concerns: health and lifetime support

Our Guarantees to You

We understand that bringing home a new German Shepherd is a significant commitment, and you want peace of mind regarding your puppy's health and future. At Texas German Shepherds Guesshaus, our contract is designed to directly address these concerns, protecting both your investment and the lifelong well-being of our dogs.

Here is a summary of the guarantees laid out in our contract:

1. Initial Health & Vet Inspection We guarantee that your puppy is healthy upon pickup. To activate and maintain this guarantee, we require that your new puppy be inspected by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving them.

Note: We highly recommend scheduling this initial veterinary appointment well in advance of your pickup date.

2. The 72-Hour Return Policy We want you to be completely confident in your new family member. Your puppy may be returned to us for any reason within the first 72 hours of pickup, provided they are in a healthy, undamaged condition.

  • Refund Details: Refunds for early returns exclude the initial reservation fee and will be issued only after the puppy has completed a mandatory one-week quarantine period to ensure our kennel's safety.

3. Congenital & Genetic Health Guarantees We breed for health and longevity, but in the rare event of a severe health issue, we stand by our dogs.

  • Congenital Conditions: If your puppy is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian with a congenital condition requiring euthanasia, we require a verified veterinary report. Upon receiving this documentation and proof of humane euthanasia (or the return of the puppy), you are entitled to either a full refund of the purchase price or a replacement puppy of equal value from the next available position in a litter of your choosing.

  • Fatal Genetic Diseases: If your dog is diagnosed with a fatal genetic disease warranting euthanasia, the diagnosis must be confirmed in writing by two licensed veterinarians (one of whom may be chosen by Guesshaus German Shepherds).

4. Hip Dysplasia Guarantee Protecting against joint issues is a priority. If your dog is diagnosed with moderate or severe hip dysplasia—confirmed by an official OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) evaluation—you will be entitled to one of the following remedies (at our discretion):

  • A replacement puppy of equal value and quality from the next available litter.

  • A refund of the purchase price, less the reservation fee.

Submitting Results: Please have your veterinarian email all official OFA evaluation results directly to us at team@guesshaus.net.

5. Lifetime Safety Net A core part of our philosophy is protecting our dogs for their entire lives. If life takes an unexpected turn and you are ever unable to keep your dog, you can always return them to Guesshaus German Shepherds. This ensures that none of our beloved dogs will ever end up in a shelter, reflecting our absolute commitment to their lifelong well-being.

Need to submit veterinary records? All health documentation, including initial 72-hour exam notes and OFA results, should be emailed directly by your veterinarian to team@guesshaus.net.
